Coffee is an evergreen large shrub with deep green, glossy foliage with bears masses of white, fragrant flowers in spring followed by green berries. Berries turn brilliant red before maturing in autumn. Plants bear within 18 months with high yields. The berries are a source of beverage coffee. The dried seeds or beans, can be roasted, ground, and brewed to make coffee.
Care: Coffee prefers a well drained soil with plenty of added organic material. Ideal as a specimen shrub for temperate to tropical gardens. Prune hard in spring to shape and restrict in size.
