A bushy shrub to small tree with small pointed dark green foliage that produces white multi-stamen flowers that develop into small red fruit with an excellent, tangy sweet flavour. The rounded burgundy red-brown fruit has a purplish red flesh. Use fruit fresh or cooked, juiced, in jams or jellies. Guava is one of the richest sources of dietary fibre.
Ideal position would be in well drained, compost-enriched soil in a sunny position. Prune to encourage woody stems close to the main framework, which will bear fruit.
