Why this heirloom? Produces extraordinarily long, thin beans with a flavour similar to asparagus. Popular in Asian cuisine, they look fantastic in any dish and a few beans go a long way. Four plants will usually feed a family of four, bearing an abundant crop. Perfect for hot climates, where they can be grown almost year round. Stringless, pick when young at around 30cm long. Beans can grow longer, but tend to become tough when left to grow too long. Can be used as a substitute for French green beans in most recipes. Growing tips: Plant in a well-drained soil in full sun after the last frost. Grow on a trellis and mulch to protect the shallow root system. Water regularly. Pick frequently for an abundant crop and to enjoy the best flavour.
