A baby Chinese cabbage with crisp, almost-white heads to use in salads and stir-fries or pickled for kimchi. Earlier to harvest than other cabbages, they are best grown quickly in a rich soil and watered regularly for optimal results.
Harvest while young as Baby Wombok or allow to grow longer for larger heads. Protect from slugs and snails away as they like it as much as we do. Quicker to harvest than other cabbages and a great one if you are short on space. .
Greens in the cabbage family need rich soil with some lime for a pH of about 7.5 and adequate water so the growth is never checked. A good cover of mulch will insulate them from hot, dry spells of weather. Their most damaging pest are the caterpillars of the white cabbage butterfly. Dipel, derris dust and pyrethrum are all effective organic controls for these voracious pests.
