Rhubarb Victoria

← Part of Vegetables, Gourmet Vegies

It’s a fact of life, “fresh is best”.  There is simply no better way of having fresher vegetables packed with nutrients and fibre, than harvesting them right from your very own garden. Pohlmans Gourmet Vegetables® Rhubarb Victoria is an edible or an ornamental with its huge green leaves and thick green stems (reddish at base).  Stalks are used to make pies and sauces or canned and frozen.  A high yielding, low maintenance crop by its 2nd season.  Stems are usually taller in shaded areas.  Pick stalks as required with a downwards and sideways action so they are pulled away from the crown.  Rhubarb is a good source of Vitamin C, fibre and calcium.

Care:  Ideally, plant into a garden bed which is fertile, enriched in organic matter, and well drained.  Mulching is recommended to help conserve water.

For Terrace and Balcony Planting:  Always use a reputable potting mix ideally incorporated with some water crystals to aid watering during the warmer weather.  Place in a sunny position.
