Rhubarb Crimson

← Part of Vegetables

Rhubarb Crimson is an edible or ornamental vegetable, packed with nutrients and vitamins. The large, edible reddish-coloured stalks are used to make pies, preserves and sauces, and can be canned or frozen. A high yielding, low maintenance crop by its second season.

Stems are usually taller in shaded areas. The colour of rhubarb stems can vary depending on light and temperature of the environment. Pick stalks as required with a downwards and sideways action so they are pulled away from the crown. Ideally, plant into a garden bed which is fertile, enriched in organic matter and well drained. Mulching is recommended to help conserve water.
